you have to of been in the mechanical trade for 4 years or more and have the qualifications quoted, if you havent got the qualifications but do have 4 years in the trade you can take an ntta exam at a vosa dept near your area and you will need your garage to sponsor that, site number etc, if not there is a course but its not a guaranteed pass, you must of been in the trade as stated though 4 years or above, and working in an mot testing station so you can take your practical at the garage you work from or  are working for. hope this helps.

I am aware that to become an MOT Inspector you must have 4 years experience, Level 3 NVQ, etc etc as stated on VOSA's website but speaking to a few people in the motor trade and also a few friends that are teachers of motor vehicles.
They have told me of other options where you can go on a weeks course with VOSA without any of the above criteria being ticked.
Is this true?
