First off, Thank you all for the comments.

Got the final decision letter only a few hours ago and it is great news.

A few extracts from the letter.

"It has been decided that your approval to test will not cease on this occasion"

"I feel that given that an act of deliberate fraud has not been established I consider that the initial 500 points could be reduced to 100 and a formal warning issued inline with the MOT Testing Guide 6TH edition. The warning will be for a five year period as outlined in the Guide"

"You should therefore regard this letter as a final warning that carries 100 disciplinary points"

*Note to self......Double check the details of the vehicle you are about to test!
(will not be making that mistake agian)

:)

A bit of a sad tale realy, but sounds like a "fair cop gov"

I guess it shows the importance of checking vin plate no's against vt40's.

I've been testing now for 13 years and have never had any points and also have a credit.

A few weeks ago I was testing a vehicle when our local VE walked in.To cut a short story shorter, I was logged on to the wrong vehicle.I had used the details of the previous test and hadn't noticed the mistake.

I'm now looking at 500 points which may be wittled down to 100.Will this get me suspended?

Cheers in advance,
Rob.

can see how this would be an easy mistake to make , on my tester training we were told time & time again to never ever use the details from the old test unless you checked them against the vehicle .
I got straight into the habit of recording the details from the vehicle myself , helps to avoid such mistakes .

Hi Rob

Don't know how you managed to make the mistake you did make - but that's life

Hopefully your case will get wittled down to 100 points

Credit points only come into the equation if you are likely to lose you testers licence. If this is a first offence then you will probably be looking at a short term cessation.

Good luck.
